'Now I welcome the influence of the world press to bring the message of—Total Knowledge—to every individual in our world and invincibility to every nation in our world. Whatever life has been so far, it has been endeavouring to be better and better. Now should be the time to step onto the plateau of the fulfilment of all the endeavors of the wise throughout the ages.'—Maharishi

1 October 2003 Press Conference Highlights

Opening Remarks

Maharishi: Jai Guru Dev. It has been a joy to bring enlightenment to the individuals and raise them to higher levels of consciousness. Now, it is our joy to invite the nations, invite the governments, who are responsible for the well-being and progress and all good to the whole population now. It is my time to invite the administration of each country in order that the whole population of every country could rise to higher state of consciousness in the same way as when I started the Movement 50 years ago, raising the consciousness of the individuals to higher states of consciousness.

And now the time is to grab the world as a whole, the population of the world as a whole, the population of each country as a whole, and offer to the government some administrative skill which will be utilizing the skill of the Constitution of the Universe.

‘What is the Constitution of the Universe? I am talking of the “Vedic” Constitution of the Universe, from the Vedic Literature (I think it has a capital L). What is the Constitution of the Universe? In one syllable, in one word, in one whisper, the total Constitution of the Universe is available to us from the Vedic Literature, and that one word is “A”, “A”, “A”—the first letter of the Sanskrit language. “A” contains the total Constitution of the Universe.

Now what is this “A”? “A” is an invitation. “A” means “to come”. I call my friend: “A”; he calls me: “A.” That means, “Come”. Who is calling whom? This I am picturing: the Constitution of the Universe in one word, “A”. Who is calling whom? And that calling becomes the Constitution of the Universe.

Infinity is calling its point, and point of infinity is calling infinity. It’s unboundedness to a point, and point to unboundedness. One syllable: “A”. The point says to infinity, “A”; infinity says to the point, “A”, in their relationship is the connection, which can be interpreted in millions of ways, which are the channels of administration of the universe.

We can imagine how many may be the points, how many may be the points in infinity. How many may be the points of infinity! That means, in how many millions of ways the infinity has to converge to a point, and in how many millions and billions and trillions of ways the point will be expanding to infinity. Just this relationship of the point with its infinity and the relationship of infinity with its points—this relationship is the structure of the Constitution of the Universe.

And what this Constitution of the Universe does? It maintains point in terms of infinity, and it maintains infinity in terms of point. This is Constitution of the Universe: unity maintaining diversity, diversity maintaining unity. This is the ideal of a government. This is the government of the universe in one word, “A”. This is Vedic wisdom. This is Vedic wisdom. And whenever the world will be functioning in order and functioning in evolution, that will be the functioning, or the administration, of the Constitution of the Universe.

This is what we are offering to every government today. And Vedic wisdom has been offering this throughout the ages. It’s not a century, it’s not two centuries, it’s not four centuries, it’s not twenty centuries. From infinity of time! This is the structure of the Constitution of the Universe!

The Constitution of the Universe is in the lively relationship of the point of infinity with infinity; and infinity—its relationship with the point. This is Constitution of the Universe. This is intelligence. This is invincible order.

And this invincible order—you want one more word to comprehend the invincible order? I give you one word more. And that is Smriti. “Smriti” is a word from the Vedic Literature. Smriti—we can hardly translate it, but nearest to that translation will be “memory”—memory. The administration of the universe through the Constitution of the Universe is carried out by one quality of intelligence, and that quality of intelligence is Smriti—memory, memory.

Where is this memory? See where is the memory. Memory will be in the point of infinity. The point has the memory of infinity; infinity has the memory of point. This memory determines the relationship of one with the other. And in this relationship is the law. The law—Shruti. Smriti gives rise to Shruti. Shruti is that which is heard; memory is that which is silent—memory. The point has the memory of infinity; infinity has the memory of point; unity has the memory of diversity; diversity has the memory of unity. This is Constitution of the Universe.

And on the functioning level, on the dynamic level—Smriti. What is the Sanskrit word for it? The Sanskrit word for the functioning of Smriti, the functioning of memory, is: Yatha purvam akalpayat. Yatha purvam akalpayat. Yatha purvam akalpayat This defines the functioning quality of the Constitution of the Universe: Yatha purvam akalpayat—“As it was before”.

Now connect the two things. What was before? Infinity was before. What else was before? Point was before. So point is an eternal existence, eternal intelligence; infinity is eternal existence, eternal point; so, “as it was before”—that is in terms of “A” again. This is the picture of the enormous, unimaginable intelligence and unimaginable theme of activity, power of activity, which has been sung in the Light of God! This is the ideal of administration!

Governments of the world, you will be blessed with success in your profession, success in your administration, by the Constitution of the Universe. It may be completely above your heads, because we have seen how appalling is the level that is administering the world today—very childish, very brutal, very useless! In such a world of just childishness—that’s all that we can say—we are raising a voice of supreme level of intelligence. In one word, you have the Constitution of the Universe! In one word, you have the functioning level of the Constitution of the Universe! And thanks to one bright scientist of today, Dr Hagelin, who has come out with a new awakening in the world of science: Unified Field, which is this joint—what I should say—joint partnership.

Now I am addressing those who are fond of democracy. It’s childish, it’s brutal, it’s destructive. But if you do want to stick to democracy, then be wise. You have two contrasting sides of life in your country—one very ignorant, one very wise. Put them together. This [one] is point of intelligence; this [one] is infinity of intelligence. If you are able to harmonize between them, then you are a very wise, intelligent, and prudent democractic. Otherwise, you are a fraud!

Democracy in the right sense should be able to reconcile between the two opposites. That is the democracy worth the name. Otherwise, it’s a trash; it’s poison. In the democracy as it is practiced today, each country has been divided—divided into fragments of different—this what you call—parties, parties, parties. Useless and waste of life!

In this ignorant world, the voice is being raised about that system of administration which is able to put together the earth and sky—the point and infinity. That is the administration. If you can understand, you will be better off, your children will be better off, your grandchildren will be better off. Otherwise, what you have today? Drug-born, chaotic brain-functioning! Drug-born, chaotic brain- functioning! If you can make your heads of state drug-born people, you must perish, and perish everything else!

The world can be such a beautiful world to be in, but due to lack of proper administrative skill, the whole thing is very chaotic. I am inviting the life in the world, wherever there is some life left in the world—those who are still lively—them I am inviting to create an ideal planet, to create an ideal civilization—an ideal civilization, where you’ll be engaging total Natural Law to work for you.

Write this sentence in golden words: Administration will be worthy of the name which will harmonize the infant ability of the children with the most advanced experienced viewpoints of the elderly people. Life has to be raised to a level of living. Otherwise, death prevails!

Somebody told me the other day: when Hitler was in his last—what they call it?—bunker, he was underground in a bunker with two, three, four of his assistants, and they were talking, looking to each other. That will be the end of every novice in the world. The Germans, who were completely behind Hitler at one time, could not save him. No country will be able to save the destructive force. One can do it, but the end of it will be just the bunker—Hitler in a bunker. So why go? Why go that way?

Go the way in which cosmic life always goes. And how it goes? Yatha purvam akalpayat—“As it was before”. “As it was before”. “As it was before”. This is Natural Law. And what was before? Go back and go back and go back and go back, go back, before, before. Where you will come? You will come to a point which will have the memory of infinity, and you’ll come to infinity in this way when you go expansion. Then the whole expanded value will have the memory of the point.

‘Always there will be a relationship of infinity with the point. Infinity with the point: contraction; point and infinity: expansion. Between this contraction and expansion—you have heard the word: “oscillating universe”, “pulsating universe”. You have heard. But the reality is the memory, memory, memory—it’s the memory. “Shruti”, “Smriti”, and “Purana”—these are the three words that bring to you the total field of cosmic law, the total field of the Constitution of the Universe. Total field of the Constitution of the Universe! . . .

A big harmony between point and infinity—there is the field of all possibility. There is the functioning of the total Natural Law. There is the Government of Peace.

Just to define to you what the Government of Peace is—Dr Hagelin has been painting to you the Government of Peace in terms of the Unified Field. I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what the Unified Field is. Unified Field is that field which is related to or which puts together point with infinity, infinity with points.

‘The whole Vedic script is from that “Richo akshare parame vyoman”, “Richo ak”, “ak”—“A”, “A”. “A”—and ”Ka” is the point of “A”. In “Ak” is the Constitution of the Universe. In “Ak” is the total Veda. In “Ak” is the script of the Constitution of the Universe—“Ak”. “Akni mile purohitam”—you ask some Vedic Pandit to chant the Rig Veda, he’ll say “Akni mile purohitam’—“Ak.” In one word “A”, and then, in another syllable of “A”, in point “Ka”: “Ak”.

There is the story of the whole Constitution of the Universe. There is the story of the whole evolutionary process—from all times, from infinity. It’s not today, tomorrow, not 2000 years ago or 10,000 years ago or million years ago. Infinity of time is governed by “A”! Infinity, related to its point always. Smriti, Smriti.

So, when you are searching for the Constitution of the Universe, it’s not an imagination; it’s not an imagination. It’s not a human concept; it’s not a human creation; it’s not a human resolution—[when] ten people sit together. It’s not a United Nations of today. Tomorrow, ten, twenty people go away, and then you give them money, and then you bring them back. . . . The whole thing is very, very ugly, very childish, very cruel. Human race has gone on a very bad sidetrack of the highway. And when the car slips [off] the highway, what happens to it? One doesn’t have to even talk about it.

This is the Constitution of the Universe. And it functions on the basis of: “as it was before”. This is not a field that you commit a sin and go to your temple or church or whatever and you say, “Yes, yes, but forgive me”, and I am forgiven. It’s all human—conceiving one’s own, oneself into that thing. Whatever you do, you have to face the consequences, because your future is going to be guided by what it was in the past. Yatha purvam akalpayat—this is Natural Law! This is Natural Law! Confession is a false pretext!

I am not opposing any religion. If the religious people feel that “Yes, I can go to my sacred place, and then I’ll be forgiven”—this is not a judge of the people, of the individuals, who can be persuaded by more intelligent lawyers. This is not that. This is: “As it was before”. Shruti, Smriti, and Purana. If you want [the] real Law of Nature, if you wish to have the Will of God, it is there, fixed in the relationship of unity with diversity, diversity with unity. “As it was before”—unity was always before; diversity was always before. The point was always—wherever was infinity, there was a point. Wherever was infinity, there was a point. Wherever there was a point, there was infinity.

So, there is no dodging about it. There is no dodging about it. If you make a statement thinking that yes, yes, today you are a judge, [and that] you can make a statement. But if the statement is not in conformity with the total Natural Law, then the whole thing is a misnomer. Whether you call it Justice or Judge or High Court or International Court, they are all useless, vain. No, no, no, no.

I have defined today the Vedic version of the Natural Law. It is simple; it is complete; it is unchallengeable in every way. It cannot be distorted. Fire cannot burn it; water cannot wet it—all those beautiful things that are there in all the religious books that are there. Vedic Literature is the authority. This authenticity has a word in the Sanskrit, and that is called—what it is called in Sanskrit?—it is called “supreme authenticity”. It is called “supreme authenticity”. It is Shruti, which is the hearing of that memory which was always before, which was always before. So, in the unmanifest, all the memories are there, unmanifest. And from there, the speech builds up. And that speech is that Vedic wind—Veda.

Veda has been so wrongly interpreted—this is all that we can say—due to the foreign rule in India. These Britishers—enormous cruelty. People have written books on the British cruelty on the Vedic Literature. But that is not the time; the time [now] is to overall throw off darkness. Bring the light, and darkness will [be] taken care of. Otherwise, how many things we can talk about and then waste our time on this? How many things are wrong in the world?

So, we are aiming at collecting some fortunate people and putting them in groups here, there, everywhere in the world. And the automatic result will be that there will be coherence in the world consciousness. And coherent world consciousness will be coherent world consciousness. It will not allow disruptions of any kind. It will not keep away point from infinity. It will not keep away infinity from point. It will be a summation of the two. It will be a unity of the two. And in unity, there is peace. Peace is in unity. In disunity, there is opposite to peace.

‘When the wise men of this scientific age have stood up with the word, “Peace Government”, I congratulate them. They are in favour of life on earth. They are in favour of life; they are in favour of reality. It is not a concept. Unity is not a concept. Unified government, or Unity Government, is not a concept. It is an eternal reality now. Human society in this generation is going to partake of it.

That is what I always say: Learn how to utilize total Natural Law to work for you, how to engage total Natural Law to work for you. And don’t be misled or misguided by anything that you may know so far. If you know yourself to be a Christian or a Buddhist or a Hindu or a Muslim or whatever, doesn’t matter what you are. You are the sum total of infinity and point. You may call yourself, your parents may have called themselves to be Muslims or Christians, and this and this. But these divisions are not going to help you. What is going to help you is your own reality which is a unified value of point and infinity, point and infinity, point and infinity, point and infinity.

Immediately take to establish Peace Governments everywhere. And Peace Governments everywhere means what? Thousand, two thousand people, put in your country. Let the students, high school students—they are old enough, big enough—and they can fly in their schools for half an hour morning and evening, and there will be integrated collective consciousness created in the country, just with a few people in the high school.

The whole thing is simple! What you have to do is struggle with your fortune, with your faith. If you want to hide behind your own religion, come openly in the Light of God. Don’t think you are not Vedic—you are.

Vedic means what? Millions of years ago. Christianity—what? Two thousand years ago. Islam—fifteen hundred years. It’s not the age of a religion; it’s the content of knowledge, content of knowledge, content of knowledge. That is why in simple words I have depicted for you infinity and point, infinity and point. Any religious head or incarnation and all, he has taught just this relationship, which is the total extent of the Light of God, the total extent of the Light of God, which is the life of man, the life on earth, man’s life on earth.

So, come out of—realize your barbarism, your civilization’s barbarism, and amend your schools and colleges, and create your administration so that you may engage—mind the word I am saying—engage Natural Law to work for you. And Natural Law is infinitely powerful, invincible, and present everywhere. Point present everywhere; infinity omnipresent. God is omnipresent, in whatever terms, if you have your mind a little open. Live your cosmic life—live your cosmic life. Here is Total Knowledge; it is Total Knowledge. Make use of it. Make hay when the sun shines.

And congratulate everyone, Dr Hagelin. He has collected his scientific friends in all the different countries where science has any meaning—even in some chosen few people. Otherwise, science doesn’t have much meaning. So Dr Hagelin, it’s a very good thing that you raise the voice of Peace Government. This is just the government of the Unified Field.

Unified Field means two contrasting values brought together to merge with one another. And these are eternal values of infinity and point, which tallies with the Vedic Literature: “Akni mile purohitam”. The entire Veda is the elaborated expression of the single syllable, “A”, “A”. Infinity calls its point “A”; point “A” calls infinity; and that’s a calling. And this is the call of the mother to the son, the son to the mother. The son says, “A”; the mother says, “A”—it’s a natural relationship.

So, let us be all natural and be living the glory of God. Everyone is destined to be the glory of God. Doesn’t matter in how many different ways we are all divided in different parts of the world due to climactic conditions. But wisdom demands to live totality of life—in whatever language we live the totality of life.

'So let’s rise to create Peace Governments everywhere. And that means what? Thousand, two thousand people you put to fly, and that’s all the Peace Government it is! There is no challenge to everyone—there is [an] invitation to every government, every head of state.

Time is up; time is up.

Let’s see, all the doubts or questions about our basic stand, [the] theme of the Constitution of the Universe, must be over today, because they [the world press] have been shown in one single syllable the entire extent of the universe—enormously expanded, galactic universe and ever-expanding galactic universe—there is no end to its expansion value. And therefore, man has to have that awareness to live which he is born. Every man is born—religion also says, “Born in the image of God”. “Man is made in the image of God”. Such expressions are there everywhere.

And follow the thing. Learn to engage Natural Law to work for you, and you will make many great advances in your aspirations, in your practical life. You can rise to any achievement when you learn how to utilize the Natural Law, which is inherent in your own self-referral consciousness, in your own Atma, in your own Self.

‘Totality to live—it’s so simple! Let’s all share our life with everyone and enjoy all together—make this planet a beautiful, beautiful planet of fulfilment for everyone. Answer the questions, Dr Hagelin, if there are any still left to be answered?’

Question: On how to improve man-made constitutions

Dr Hagelin: ‘Thank you very much, Maharishi, for this extraordinary exposition of total reality of unity, of “Ak”, of point and infinity, the Constitution of the Universe and its application to transform the direction of life in the world.

‘There are many questions, Maharishi, yet remaining, and they fall into two categories, I would say, so we have a choice. They fall into the category of the practical application of Maharishi’s Vedic Science and Administration to address, redress the problems of the world today. And they fall into the category, I would say, of deep principles of knowledge, of consciousness, and physiology, and so forth. So, would Maharishi like to begin with questions in the area of the practical application of the Peace Government, for example, of Maharishi’s Vedic Science and Administration to the world today, or delve more into the area of pure knowledge?’

Maharishi: Both are enjoyable fields; come up with anything.’

Dr Hagelin: ‘The first question, then, Maharishi, has to do with rewriting the Iraqi constitution. The reporter asks that he is aware of Maharishi’s comments of the flaws of manmade constitutions. “But can such manmade constitutions be upgraded to be more effective? I ask because right now war-torn Iraq is in the process of writing a new constitution. What law or laws would Maharishi add to that document to give it a better chance to succeed?”’

Maharishi: Man-made law will always have weaknesses of human mind and failures of human mind. That is why, sometime Dr Hagelin told me, that some of the past presidents or the lawmakers in US have made the law that always there should be amendments and improvements, improvements, improvements. So it’s not—if you make a law of a country, who is going to draft the law of a country?! I would ask those drafters of new law of Iraq, what is the authenticity that they have? Have they created a peaceful country, a happy country? Have they created happy country? And if they have not created a happy country, what right they have to write the constitution of another country?

Who is competent to write the law, the constitution of the country? Better take the constitution which is already there, which has been there since times immemorial, and which is always evolutionary to everyone, always evolutionary to everyone. Don’t you dare to make the law of any other country or even of your country. You can make laws, but there will be the law of Hitler when he’ll create the world, and then he ended up in the bunker; he couldn’t save himself. These are the lawmakers. How many are the makers in the world today who are in jail—presidents, prime ministers jailed!

‘So it’s very out of the—what we could say—out of the right of anyone to make a law for anyone else. And this is the country that was raising the voice of human rights. Shame to America!

Human right! Oh, human right!

‘What is this human right? Have you made your country peaceful? Look to the chaos in medicine in America; look to the chaos in education in America. And now you go to make a constitution-writing. Shame to this—absolutely shame! You can do what you want, but it won’t be right, that’s all.

‘How would Americans feel if the Chinese people begin to write the constitution of America? Ask the government of America how would they feel! Or if the Russians begin to write the constitution of America, how the Americans will feel! Ask the Britishers how will they feel if Kenya begins to write the constitution of the island England! How will they feel? . . .’

Question: On the scientists in Dr Hagelin's cabinets

Dr Hagelin: ‘‘[Thank you very much, Maharishi, for that answer on the Iraqi constitution.] This reporter is writing a story on the US Peace Government and would like more information about the 400-plus scientists in Dr Hagelin’s cabinet. What is their special expertise? Do they all meditate? And will the scientists be peace-creators themselves, or will they teach and administer courses in meditation?’

Maharishi: This rises from the need for a proper sense of administration. Some people have realized that there is a Constitution of the Universe—infinitely vast, galactic universe is being run so beautifully, so orderly. So why can’t we have our society run so beautifully. And they have the knowledge, so they are raising the voice: Peace Government.

‘And Peace Government is not [a] humanly conceived government; it’s not humanly conceived government. It is human—what we will say—it is enjoying the umbrella, enjoying the shade of the [umbrella]—all these difficulties arise from the incompetent people who work for themselves. There was dictatorship, there was all different systems of political administration, and time demands that a better system, more successful system, a system which will be able to satisfy everyone, should be introduced. And that is a system, known to the scientists to whatever extent, but known to the Vedic Literature completely, as I said just now. In one word, the whole thing is there. In one word, the operational value is there, in the Smriti, in the memory

“As it was before.” From there one universal principle of action comes: As you sow, so shall you reap. Period! That’s all. One little phrase is the guiding light for whole life—whole life of point to rise to infinity. The whole thing in one little phrase: As you sow, so shall you reap.

‘And there are, in every religion, there are—and also in every field of politics, in every field of any system, if there is a system—if there is a system, there are laws: you do this, you do this, you do this, you do this, you do this, you do this. So whatever, even humanly conceived laws try to protect the individual from doing wrong, so that prevention-oriented way of living—prevention oriented.

‘And it has not been very happy situation in education that the education did not light the lamp inside. It did not awaken the mind, the intellect, the ego to conform to the requirement of cosmic law, cosmic intention. And the cosmic intention is to be always in harmony with everything. Unity has to be in harmony with all diversity. Every aspect of diversity has to be in harmony with unity.

‘And when we found out, then we started to raise the voice, and the voice has been received, even though slowly. I had expected it to be long ago. But doesn’t matter; the events of the world are leading mankind to a better platform of living, a more sensible platform of living. Like that, like that.’

Question: On how consciousness is primary

Dr Hagelin: ‘Thank you, Maharishi. This question is on consciousness—primary or secondary: “Most scientists today hold that consciousness is purely a by-product of electrochemical processes in the brain, and that without the body there is no consciousness, no awareness, no life. On the other hand, the scientific conclusion of your global ruler, Dr Raja Raam, is that consciousness is primary and that physiology is secondary—that the human body is made of consciousness. Would Maharishi please explain how consciousness is primary and how in fact consciousness can actually create the human body?” ’

Maharishi: One word would be the answer of it. The word is: un-manifest, unmanifest. It’s manifest, and the other thing is un-manifest. It’s manifest and unmanifest. It’s unity and diversity. Together they are reality—not one, not the other—together, not one, not other.

‘Now those who are practicing Transcendental Meditation, they know that there are moments in their awareness where consciousness is the only thing that there is. So they say “Transcendental Consciousness”. There is no body, nothing, nothing, nothing. So one is the other. [It’s a] matter of where one’s awareness is.

‘This is very beautifully explained in the Vedic Literature. They say there is a section of Nyaya, it is called “justice”. What is the Nyaya? Lamp at the door. You have a lamp at the door. What it does? It lightens inside; it lightens outside. So outside light, inside light—the underlying of balance where outside and inside both meet together. And that is the reality.

‘So your argument is brilliant when you say one needs the other, absolutely, one needs the other. One is the other. And that is—that gets settled in one word: un-manifest. Un-manifest. Now this unmanifest is that level where silence and dynamism both are in harmony, both are in harmony. Silence and dynamism, silence and dynamism. It’s not only body, not only consciousness.

‘Now how to get to this level? When one is not meditating, then only body is primary. When only body is primary, then the other part which is more quiet, more silent, more fluid, more basic, we say, because consciousness is a field—. This is very intelligent, listen to it properly. This consciousness is boundaryless—no space-time boundaries. Body has boundaries. Body has boundaries. Body has boundaries. Consciousness—unbounded.

‘So, when the boundaries are there, you can come from boundary, to boundary, to boundary; you can come to the point value of the boundary. There you will have boundary also and unboundedness also. So, in this case that law of administration comes that one is the other; one is the other. When only one is important—either body is important or only consciousness is important—you can’t function. It’s not life, it’s not life, it’s not life.

So, we say, what is life? Unity Consciousness. Unity Consciousness means: consciousness in multiple ways and consciousness in unified state—both together. So one cannot undo the other, because in the ultimate reality, the ultimate analysis, both are together. And that is total, that is total. Consciousness and physiology, both are total, both are total, both are total. But in the world, when body is primary, we have to explain to the people. How to explain? We say it is consciousness which is primary, and give them the experience of consciousness, experience of consciousness, experience of consciousness. And one comes to a value where consciousness is physiology.

They are making very beautiful videotapes these days where the Yoga Sutras or Darshan Sutras, this Vedanta Sutras, Sankhya Sutras, all these Sutras are fitting as this physiology of some part of the brain here, some part of the brain here, some part of the heart here [Maharishi points to different parts of his brain]—the whole thing. Our research doctors—they are all busy there showing how the whole physiology is in terms of consciousness. And consciousness is there available in terms of the Vedic Mantras, the Vedic sounds, Vedic sounds. Vedic sounds are also reverberations, and physiology is also reverberation, so both meet together. This is His Majesty Raja Raam’s research. It’s very, very intimate, very delicate level of total value of life, total value of life.

‘If life is administered from there! It’s not a matter of “if”, if we say, because it is not being administered from there. If life is administered from there, that will be unity-administration, prevention-oriented administration. That will be Government of Peace—peace governing all activity. That means, putting all activity in perfect balance with one another, with each other, like that, like that.

‘That is what is called living cosmic life, living cosmic life. When you live cosmic life, you don’t get out of the boundaries, only the boundaries are not so important as before—but the boundaries, you can talk in terms of becoming transparent, becoming transparent. Both things are there, both things are there. This is Atma, this is that Constitution of the Universe, which has two things together: infinity and point, infinity and point. Atma is just that: “At-ma”. “Ma” is point. “A” is infinity. Infinity and point, infinity and point. It’s a very delightful relationship.

‘It was too costly for the education in the world to have lost this insight into the reality, but now in the scientific age, the total is going to come up. As far as we are concerned, just a few people practicing this flying—now flying is a phenomenon which puts together the infinity and point—which puts together. All this galactic universe flying, galaxies flying in the empty space, is the same phenomenon, same phenomenon.

‘So, we are in the grip of that knowledge, and we are making our world a nice world. We don’t mind all these mistakes and all that, because in the darkness so many wrong things must happen to everyone. But we are expert in putting the light on, putting the light on, putting the light on.

This is a great invitation to every government, every government—whatever they are. Every government already has those—what they call—these soldiers. Military is there. Put those military people to fly together, and they will disallow the birth of an enemy in the world. It’s a very concrete value of reciprocity. If you put [on] the light, the light is for you; if you don’t put [on] the light, darkness is for you. This reciprocity with enlightenment, that is what engages Natural Law to work for you, engages Natural Law to work for you.

‘The opportunity is there. The thing [is] we are thrown in the market—we are there. And we hope, in their own interest, every government will take it up. Those who don’t take up today, they take up tomorrow. This is the destiny, this is the fortune of every nation, which we have unlocked.

‘Dr Hagelin, tell them about your rising interest in the Peace Government everywhere, Peace Government everywhere, Peace Government everywhere, Peace Government everywhere.

[Dr Hagelin speaks.]

Question: It

Dr Hagelin: ‘If I could, Maharishi, interject a question from a religion writer from the United Kingdom on the principle of silence and dynamism: “Maharishi says that Lord Shiva represents the silent aspect of reality and Lord Vishnu represents the dynamic aspect. But Maharishi has also said that Mother Divine represents dynamism. What then is the distinctive role of Lord Vishnu and Mother Divine?” ’

Maharishi: ‘The reality is always unified. And unified means in their extremes: silence and dynamism. The word for dynamism in the Sanskrit is “Prakriti”, and the word for silence is “Purusha”. So, Purusha—Lord Vishnu; Mother Divine—Mahalakshmi or Saraswati—or all the dynamism.

Prakriti and Purusha—the distinction between them—means the silent part of it and the dynamic part of it—silent part of it with Shiva, and dynamic part of it with Shiva inherent in silence. And what is inherent in silence? [It] is the Smriti of dynamism. The Smriti—that is this memory of dynamism. So, dynamism is there; silence is there in Shiva where silence is predominant. Silence is there and dynamism is there in the Vishnu where dynamism is predominant.

‘It’s a very balanced, total knowledge of Natural Law. It has its own terminology. As you have now when you explain Natural Law in terms of physics, you have certain terminology. When you do that from the level of chemistry, it’s a different terminology. When you do it from level of arithmetic, it’s a different terminology. Even from geometry, it’s a different terminology. So each field has its own language.

I am reminded of this thing: this Shruti, Smriti, and Purana. Purana has its own language; Smriti has its own language; Shruti has its own language. Different aspects of the Constitution of the Universe have their own expression, own terminology, own terminology. When you go to buy oranges in the market, you have to speak the language of the shop of oranges. When you go to buy a diamond there, the language of orange will not work in the diamond shop. Each has its own terminology. But the grand unity is miraculously put in one syllable, “A”. “A” for Atma, “A” for Atma, “A” for the beginning point of the Veda—knowledge, Total Knowledge in “A”, which I have just explained. It is a tremendous total wisdom of Natural Law.

‘When this wisdom was not distorted prior to the foreigners coming to India, then the world was a better world. This whole thing—this is what they attribute to Kali Yuga, the time value, time value. The whole infinity of time divided into four qualities and all that—the whole thing is such a perfect science of Being, which is the science of life, which is the science of becoming also. Science of Being is the science of becoming. This is how you can make or unmake anything from the language of the Vedic sound.

‘Dr Raja Raam is busy these days in creating a Vedic approach to health, Vedic approach to health. It will not be very long until the whole health care system will be in terms of the Vedic sounds, in terms of Vedic sound, reverberations of self-referral consciousness. All these diseases and all those difficult things and all that, the whole thing will be soon forgotten, very soon forgotten once Raja Raam has come out with this health care system through the Vedic sound, Vedic—whatever different names you call it—Vedic therapy, Vedic sound.

Time is good time. And I love the words of Dr Hagelin when he says, “It’s good to be existing in this time”—when the world is being transformed into something very beautiful, worthy of living, in the cosmic reference, something very beautiful.

‘I invite the world press. They are doing well, but bring the news of a better time dawning for all mankind. And help Dr Hagelin to establish this Peace Government everywhere, Peace Government everywhere. Do it. Participate. Offer your gift to the world for speedily recreating a better life on earth.

‘All glory to Guru Dev. Jai Guru Dev.’
